Image
Hey everyone! NANA here again! Today we'll be looking more into the different anesthesia types and what would be best for your surgery! There are 3 different types of anesthesia that we provide here at NANA Plastic Surgery: General, Sleep, and Local Anesthesia. It is important to note which anesthesia is best used in which situation, as not every type of anesthesia is compatible with every surgery. Shall we look at them together? This anesthesia is usually inhaled through a breathing mask, or given through intravenous (IV) tube. You will have to breathe through a breathing apparatus while on this anesthetic. This anesthesia is usually used for facial contouring, breast augmentation, and so on. Credit: Pinterest Sleep Anesthesia As the name suggests, this anesthesia will put you into a

Post-Op Care: What to do after your surgery?

Image
Hi everyone! NANA is back again and today let's look at post-operative care! Of course, your post-op care defers according to your surgery, but there are some hard and fast rules you will need to follow after every surgery. Shall we go through what they are together? Credit: Pinterest 1. No drinking of alcohol or smoking The temptation is there, we all understand. However, drinking alcohol and smoking is strictly prohibited for the first month after the surgery. This is to decrease the rate of inflammation in your wounds. You wouldn't want to get your wounds infected, do you? This includes anything with alcohol content and any sort of cigarette, including vapes and e-cigarettes! Credit: Takahashi on Pinterest 2. No food or drinks 1~5 hour after the surgery Depending on what anesthesia you used during the surgery, there is a period of 1~5 hours that you are not allowed to eat or drink. As the anesthesia is still in your system, eating and drinking might cause complications as a

Protruded Ears Surgery and Our Thai Patient's Experience!

Image
Hi everyone! NANA is back today with another blog and another youtube video! Have you seen it yet? It brings us on a journey with one of our patients and her multiple surgeries, including protruded ear surgery!  Introducing to you, Maprang, an influencer from Thailand! Today she is with us for chin surgery, fat grafting, and protruding ears surgery. She has always felt that her ears were too big, and seemed like they were 'going to fly out'. Her plan for the surgery is to have them be flattened out and pushed back. She also was concerned about the asymmetry on her face caused by her chin so she will be adjusting her chin as well.  The doctor noted that Maprang's chin is a little lower on the left than the right. So he will reduce the right side a little to keep them as symmetrical as he possibly can. As for the protruding ears, there is a cartilage in the back of the ear, and it is common for the cartilage to fold inwards, however because Maprang doesn't have that fol

Summer Activities in Korea

Image
Hey everyone! NANA is back again and it looks like summer is once again around the corner! If you have any plans to come to Korea during this period of time, here are some fun activities in Korea that you can consider!  Summer in Korea can be pretty hot, and along with the usual rain within the first couple of weeks, the air can be quite humid. If you are planning to come over during the first few weeks, make sure to bring an umbrella just in case! Credit: Everland on Pinterest 1. Beach Summer is always the best time to head down to the beach! It's a time when children get to play in the sand, and adults get to surf or swim or just suntan. In Korea, there are many beaches that are just a luxury to be at during the summer.  Some of the popular beaches here are: Sokcho Beach (Sokcho), Gyeongpo Beach (Gangneung), Haeundae Beach (Busan) Credit: JK on Pinterest 3. Picnic by the River Having such nice weather means that there is plenty of time to do activities outdoors! One of the more p

Pre-Op Procedures: What's Important to Take Note?

Image
Hey everyone! NANA is back again and today we'll be looking at what you can do before your surgery to better prepare yourself! Credit: verywellhealth.com on Pinterest Pre-Operative Procedures 1. 10-hour Fast Unfortunately you would have to fast for 10 hours before your appointed surgery time. This is because anesthetics are being used. When anesthetics are used, your body's reflexes will be temporarily stopped. If there is food or water in your stomach, there is a risk of you throwing it up during the surgery. 2. No medication for 24 hours prior. This is once again due to the anesthesia. Some medications might react with the anesthesia and cause an undesirable result within your body. To ensure that this does not happen, please do make sure you don't take any medication 24 hours prior to your surgery. If you do need to take any special medication, please do let your doctors know well before the surgery. 3. Supplements and vitamins are not permitted 3~4 days before surgery

Facial Contouring: Face Point Combinations

Image
Hey everyone! NANA is back again with another informative blog post! Today we'll be looking at facial contouring. Here at NANA we have unique combinations of facial contouring that many of our patients are looking to do. Shall we look at some of them together? 2 point contouring This is the most basic of our combinations. This combination contours the jawline and the cheekbone, leaving behind a slim and natural V-shaped face that can be admired from any angle. 3 point contouring One step up from our 2-point contouring combination is our 3-point contouring. This includes the jawline, chin, and cheekbone. The additional chin contouring helps to keep the proportion of your face while still giving a slimmer appearance. 4 point contouring Our last combination is 4-point contouring. In addition to the jawline, chin, and cheekbone, the mandible cortical bone is also removed to create a more defined line. This is to create a more dramatic and defined look on your face. Of course, with ever
