Yellow Dust or Asian Dust affects East Asia year round
especially the spring months are the peak;
the dust originates from Northern China and Mongolia,
where high-speed winds and intense dust storms of fine,
dry soil particles are carried to the Korean Peninsula.

Other than reduced visibility, it also brings industrial pollutants;
viruses; fungi; bacteria and even heavy metals which are bad for respiratory health.

What to do:
1.     Wear a mask when going outside
It’s best to avoid outdoor activities (especially if you’re an elderly, young child and those with heart disease, diabetes and lung diseases or respiratory problems)
2.     Wear glasses
Dust can scratch your lenses and damage your eyes.
3.     Drink plenty of water
Winter and Spring season in Korea tends to be dry; drinking water is good to wash out the dust and to keep your body hydrated.
4.     Wash your hands and brush your teeth
When returning indoors, wash your hands and brush your teeth to wash off the dust; it’s also good to watch your hair before going to sleep.
