Spring is just around the corner and we know everyone is pretty excited about going out and feeling the nice, warm weather. However, with the ongoing global pandemic, it's difficult to go abroad for a travel or simply go anywhere without having to worry about the distancing measures. 

So, NANA prepared 5 places you can conveniently visit from Seoul by subway like a little getaway. Thankfully, Seoul's subway system is fast and extensive and reaches beyond Seoul. If you are looking for a small day trip to detox yourself from the busy city, consider one of these five locations!

🔅HWASEONG FORTRESS (수원 화성)🔅

Hwaseong is a piled-stone and brick fortress of the Joseon Dynasty that surrounds the centre of Suwon city, of Gyeonggi-do Province. It was built in the late 18th century by King Jeongjo for defensive purposes, to form a new political basis and to house the remains of his father, Crown Prince Jangheon. The massive walls of the fortress go about 5.74km in length and the Suwoncheon, the main stream in Suwon, flows through the centre of the fortress. The fortress and enclosed palace were designated as a World Heritage site by UNESCO in 1997.

Hwaseong Fortress in Suwon is just a 30min train ride from Seoul City, it's perfect for a day trip to explore the area. This UNESCO World Heritage Site if one of the Korea's most important historical treasures and is the only remaining walled fortress in the country.

🔅HEYRI ART VALLEY🔅

Heyri Art Valley is a neighborhood of inspiration, creative workshops, festivals and fun and artistic exhibitions. This neighborhood expanded into an art complex when artists from diverse fields of expertise began to gather during the development process of Paju Book City.  There, you can enjoy exploring exhibitions that are run by artists, trade or selling arts, bookstores and cafes with pretty and cozy vibes. There are also food courts in the buildings for the convenience of its visitors as well.  Hyeri, the name of this cultural art village, is quoted from the title "The Sound of Heyri" which is a traditional farming song at Paju Province. 

🔅JEONGJA CAFE STREET (정자동 카페거리)🔅

Jeongja-dong Cafe Street is a popular place for locals in Bundang district because of its chic atmosphere that resembles Cheongdam-dong in Seoul. The street is lined with charming cafes with lovely terraces. 


Jeongja Cafe Street is noy like any other cafe street you have been to. Lined with cozy coffee shops, French and Italian restaurants, bakeries and patisseries; the place is said to be reminiscent of a street in Europe. Take a little walk along the street, sit on the terrace of a beautiful cafe, read a book and sip on a cup of coffee! Your day will be as sweet as a cup of vanilla latte☕️

🔅YANGPYEONG DUMULMEORI🔅

Dumulmeori refers to an area where Bukhangang and Namhangang rivers meet in Yangpyeong County. Surrounded by water, it's a scenic spot that's often used as a filming location for Korean movies and dramas such as She Was Pretty. 

Another attraction of this area is the three 400-yr-old Zelkova Trees that appear as one giant tree. Dumulmeori’s peaceful setting and proximity to Seoul make it a popular day trip destination for locals. It’s a great place to go for a stroll or a leisurely bike ride. 

🔅ALPACA WORLD🔅


Alpaca World is the largest forest experience farm in Korea, spreading across 110,000 square feet surrounded by forest and mountain valley. It is a farm/petting zoo with alpacas (of course!) and other farm animals such as rabbits, deer, horses and ostriches. The alpacas are friendly to pet, feed and interact with them. For an extra fee, you can even go on a leashed walk with the alpacas.
