Fall is officially here 🍁

Any plans for your next weekend trip out of Seoul?

This time, we present you guys "Pohang"

Pohang is the main seaport city located in the province of North Gyeongsang, Korea. Due to its frequent appearance on Korean famous TV shows and dramas, the city has now become a popular tourist attraction for both overseas and local visitors. Today, we present the TOP 5 THINGS TO DO while in Pohang!

✨ CAFE FOTOPIA

The cafe/wedding photo studio is open to the public to explore the area with already prepared sets, lightings and pretty much everything you need to get that Instagram shot! The cafe has also nice coffee and pastries you can enjoy while admiring the open sea view.

Address: Gyeongsangbuk-do, Pohang-si, Buk-gu, Heunghae-eup, Haean-ro, 1744
Hours: 10AM~8PM, every day

✨HOMIGOT SUNRISE SQUARE

If you want to see the earliest sunset of Korea, Homigot is the place to go! Following the resources of Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute, the sunrise time of Homigot on January 1 is at 7:32 am, making it the earliest first sunrise of each year in Korea. The plaza was built to commemorate these research findings with the national Sunrise Festival. Nearby attractions include Korea's largest lighthouse, Homigot Lighthouse, established in 1908.

Sangsaeng’s Hand, a two-part bronze sculpture shaped like a pair of hands, was constructed in December 1999. It is a signature symbol of the sunrise festival. The left hand is on the land and the right hand is in the ocean. It was built to give the message that all people are living together by helping one another like Sangsaeng, meaning coexistence in Korean.

Being one of the popular tourist attractions of Pohang, Homigot has become a trendy filming location for many K-Dramas, variety shows such as 2D1N👏👏

✨DAEWONSA: THE DRAGON TEMPLE

Deawonsa temple stands out from its name: the Dragon Temple. Visitors and worshippers can enter the sanctuary via the mouth of the dragon. The dragon's body twists roughly 330 feet. The long hallway is filled with religious statues and artworks which you can enjoy exploring. Apart from the giant dragon, the main temple is very peaceful and a great space to meditate.

You may wonder...why a giant Dragon?
Dragon in Korea represents good fortune, protection and spiritual clarity.

✨THE ONGSAN TOWN

If you are a K-Drama fan, you would already know the famous "When the Camellia Blooms" starring Gong Hyojin and Kang Haneul. The drama is set in a fictional town called Ongsan but the setting was actually in a small village located in Pohang. How fun would it be to visit your favorite drama's location and take a picture?

✨YEONGILDAE BEACH

Yeongildae Beach is the largest beach on Korea's eastern coast. It is a great place for families and friends during summer vacations. The beach has several lodging facilities and restaurants that offer fresh seafood and hoe (sliced raw fish) nearby. Yeongildae Beach offers one of the most beautiful sunsets which will for sure put you in complete peace.
