Lotus Lantern Festival 2023

Dates: 11th-28th May

The Lotus Lantern Festival, also known as Yeondeunghoe, started off as a simple religious ritual to celebrate the birth of Buddha. Today this UNESCO-listed festival is an inspiring weeks-long event that inspires everyone from every religion. During the festival, streets, temples, and malls are lined with thousands of lotus lanterns, symbolising the enlightenment of humanity. Though there are many wonderous events happening during this festival, one to look out for would most definitely be the Lotus Lantern Parade that takes over the street of the Jongno District for a night.

Pohang International Fireworks Festival 2023

 Dates: 26th-28th May

Fancy heading out of Seoul for a bit? Why not head down to Pohang during this period of time? Pohang hosts Korea's largest fire and light parade. With mesmerising fireworks display along with live music performances over the 3 days, this festival is surely one not to be missed. The festival runs for 3 days, however, the main fireworks show will be on the 27th of May, from 9pm to 10pm, so you might want to work your schedule around that!
You can book one-day tours to Pohang to catch the music festival over here!

Location: Pohang

That's all for today! If you are coming over to Korea during these periods of time, do keep a lookout of these festivals. Until next time~

Regards,
NANA
