Things you need to know before getting a nosejob !
Usually when we perform rhinoplasty,
it is the best to use cartilage which is placed near the surgery area.
The more distance between the cartilage and surgery area,
the more difference in characteristics.
What cartilage is the most used for rhinoplasty ?
For the nose tip, the most used cartilage is the "septal cartilage"
that is placed inside our nose.
Next most used is ear cartilage.
Then we also use patient's self rib cartilage or donated rib cartilage.
✔️Rib cartilage is often used for revision surgeries
✔️Or for patients with very low and flat nose bridge
Does the cartilage used differ
depending on the patient's state ?
Cartilage may differ case by case.
But the most important cartilage is "SEPTAL CARTILAGE"
The next condition is that patient's skin needs to be stretched well.
We proceed to use ear cartilage when the septal cartilage is SMALL or NOT ENOUGH
or even use rib cartilage depending on each case.
Depending on the size of the size of patient's septal cartilage and
how well the skin gets stretched, we choose which cartilage should be used.
Is it common to use Dermofat
or other agent for rhinoplasty ?
✔️If patient's skin is very thin
✔️If patient's doesn't prefer to use silicone implant for nose bridge
✔️If patients has history of having infection from implant before
The risk of possible infection is very low when using Dermofat,
but the disadvantage is that it's easily absorbed back into body.
