What are some popular Korean steet food that you can enjoy?

Hi everyone! How are you guys doing?👀💕

Have you guys ever heard of the word “Mukbang”? Nowadays, many contents on social media deal with Mukbang. But did you know that Mukbang is a Korean word for Eating Show?🍔🍕🍟  Mukbang became popular in Korea and has become a global trend now💞🌍🌎🌏💞.

So today we have come up with some good Korean street food where you can enjoy when visiting Korea😆. While there are many tantalizing restaurants you can enjoy when in Korea, there is also other great food in the street where a wide variety of menus are sold for you to enjoy. Street food in Korea is very common and it is a place where you can taste various delicious food at a cheap price👐.

👉 Rice Cake (Tteokbokki)

Korean street food rice cake, called tteokbokki is a very popular dish. It is literally translated as “stir-fried rice cake”. It is mainly made of a cylinder-shaped white rice cake, chili paste, and fish cake. Tteokbokki is a famous dish sold in the street especially during the winter. Cooking tteokbokki can differ from people to people but as you can see by the picture, they are mostly spicy but also sweet and chewy, and are simply addictive! If you are a spicy food lover, I’d definitely recommend this dish. When you visit Korea, you will see many people on the street eating tteokbokki served in a bowl and eating with a skewer. You may have already seen many YouTubers eating tteokbokki. So do try it and see why YouTubers made such facial expressions when eating this dish (like this 😮😌😊😙).

When you find a vendor that sells tteokbokki you will usually see fried food, fish cake, and blood sausage called Sundae along with tteokbokki.

👉 Fried Food (Twigim)

You may ask, “What fried food?” It’s a collection of different food that is fried. There are various ingredients used for fried food that includes octopus, seaweed and glass noodles, sweet potatoes, eggs, and more. They are usually refried right away and you can enjoy the hot crispy fried food. Fried food is crunchy, greasy, and savory. If you want, you can ask the owner to mix the fried food with tteokbokki which tastes even better. Personally, I would recommend you to try the octopus fried food because they are crispy on the outside but very soft and chewy on the inside💯💯.

👉 Fish cake and soup (Odeng)

Moreover, there is a Korean version of fish cake served with a soup that you can enjoy along with tteokbokki. The fish cakes are put on skewers and you can just grab the skewers and eat them without telling the aunts. After you finish your food you count the number of skewers and they will calculate the cost for you. The fish cake in the soup is very soft and you feel warm by drinking the soup especially during winter⛇ times. You can either eat it plain or dip your fish cake in the soya sauce that is provided which just tastes even better! It’s definitely worth trying as it is affordable and can be consumed as a light snack.

👉 Blood Sausage (Sundae)

Lastly, the blood sausage called Sundae is also another food that you can enjoy. You may have freaked out😲😳 by the word itself. They are not what you think they are. Sundae is made by boiling and steaming the pig intestines that are filled with a variety of ingredients such as glass noodles. It tastes like meat and is very chewy. Once you try Sundae, you may like the chewiness. Sundae can be eaten with a dip of salt and even tteokbokki sauce. Usually, tteokbokki, fish cake, fried food, and Sundae are the best combination and many vendors provide these special sets.

👉 Bungeobbang

Another well-known street food in Korea is Bungeobbang🐟🐡. It’s not a fish but a fish-shaped pastry filled with sweetened red beans. It is also one of the popular street food during the winter as you can eat it right away from the grilled appliance. They are snacks that you can eat at an affordable price. If you are lucky, you can find some vendors where they sell Bungeobbang stuffed with sweet potato, sweet cream, or even chocolate. Bungeobbang is hard to find during the summer season so if you want to try, it would be best if you come in the winter season.

👉 Toast

Toasts in the street of South Korea are quite different from what you may imagine. They are made on the spot which means that you will be able to see how the aunts make them. The ingredients used for the toast can differ but usually, ketchup and mayonnaise are used for the sauces. The grilled toast is hearty and filled with various ingredients such as eggs, hams, cheese, a mixture of shredded vegetables, and more. You will be able to taste a fine medley of flavors- crunchy, buttery, and ever a bit of saltiness and sweetness. It makes you full just by eating one sandwich which is why many people going or finishing work eat them for their meals.

Well, that was all for today and I hope it helped you guys get a grasp of what Korean street food is!💓 Stay healthy and happy!💋
