PRP or Stem Cell? WHAT are they and what are the differences?

PRP

PRP injection is Platelet-Rich Plasma injection, which is a form of regenerative medicine that can harness those abilities and amplify the natural growth factors your body uses to heal tissue.

Q. What are platelets and Plasma?

Plasma is the liquid portion of whole blood, which is composed largely of water and proteins, and provides a medium for red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets to circulate through the body. Platelets are blood cells that cause blood clots and other necessary growth healing functions.

So PRP injections use a concentration of patients' own platelets to accelerate the healing of injured tendons, ligaments, muscles, and joints. In this way, PRP injections use each individual patient's own healing system to improve musculoskeletal problems. It is prepared by taking anywhere from a patient's own blood. These activated platelets are injected directly into one's injured or diseased body tissue.

Q. What are the benefits of PRP injections?

First, it provides total rejuvenation. PRP injection stimulates collagen production which thickens and tightens thin skin so that it boosts collagen more. And it uses your own natural elements without using a foreign body so it has less possibility of infections. Moreover, the result usually lasts longer than other treatments, which lasts 12 to 18 months after the first treatment.

Stem Cells

Q. What are the Stem Cells?

Stem cells are the body's raw materials, which generate all other specialised cells. Under the proper conditions in the body, stem cells divide to form more cells called Daughter Cells. These daughter cells become either new stem cells or specialised cells.

Q. What are the benefits of facial enhancement using stem cells?

Stem cell therapy is a noninvasive and nonsurgical procedure that helps restore and rejuvenate the face. We harvest powerful and healthy cells and use them to promote growth and speed healing.

In terms of cosmetic uses and facial rejuvenation, stem cells are removed from a patient's own tissue, combined with premium growth hormones, and then the concentrated solution is reinjected into areas of the face. What is unique is that stem cells can develop into any type of cell in the body, encouraging the production of original cells. The stem cell face lifting and aesthetics help you to simply regain years from your youth.

✔ How it works

Stem cells extracted from fat tissue are mixed with hyaluronic acid to increase the growth of new collagen and tissue. 3~4 weeks can be taken to see the results as the skin regenerates.

Q. What are the differences?

They use different materials. PRP injection takes plate-rich plasma ONLY from your blood, otherwise, stem cells are extracted from the bone marrow or fat tissues. And for Stem Cell use, every individual has a limited amount of stem cells, so it is more complicated than using plasma.

The most difference between PRP and Stem Cells is how they work and the benefits from them. Platelets speed the healing process of the injured tissues so that it triggers new blood vessel growth, forms the layer which supports new tissue growth, and regulates inflammation. On the contrary, Stem Cells regenerate all types of tissues and replicate themselves. New stem cells replace old and damaged tissues so the target is more specific.

They are both good choices for regeneration. We can get sources of stem cells from various areas of our body. However, Stem Cells are a more specific treatment so they can be more expensive and complicated than PRP injections.
